This lockdown is probably the best time to discover more and more good and underrated bands…

Today we talk about Levyathan, an amazing death metal band from Mumbai (India) formed in 2018, which became known for its first single “Black Faith”.
We tried to find out more about them in a short interview:
Why did you start the band?
It may sound obvious but to make music and when we say to “make music” the emphasis is more on putting forward our ideology or how we perceive things through our original compositions.
Just as every metalhead who grew up listening to this wonderful genre and practicing their instrument for hours, dreams to have a band of their own in future, we are no different and passionate in what we do.
And fortunately the current line up of the band shares similar taste in music and ideology which definitely keep things at ease.
What does the name of the band stand for?
Levyathan takes its name influence from the immortal sea monster (which is also referred in the Bible, Quran and Vedas with different names) called ‘Leviathan’. Which shall ressurect on the doomsday to restore the good by consuming the evil inside it.
The band’s lyrical and conceptual theme revolves around the same concept.
Which is your target as a band for next 5-10 years?
Well, in the next 5-10 years, you can definitely expect more singles, albums and live gigs coming out as we already have a few plans for the second album but whether it is going to be a continuation to our debut one or not, that is something that we need to figure out first because currently it’s just a very raw idea.
Apart from that we are now very much focused on getting done with our first album and releasing it by the end of 2020 along with few singles which will be released before the album and currently are in the improvisation stage.
Post which we would love to go live around the country and tour outside India as well.
This year you released “Black Faith”. What inspired you to write the song?
“Black Faith” is not just a song but also a momento for us, this song was made with the ex-members of the band, however this track was improvised further before the release with the current line up.
This song is special to us in many ways as this is the 1st song we ever wrote as a band.
The song speaks about the blind trust of humanity and how it is misused by others for personal and political gains.
We received enormous appreciation and recognition for the track from the home country and other foreign countries.
When are you planning to release your first album?
This will surely happens by the end of 2020.
We have been trying hard to make things work and due to constant line up changes the band has faced in the recent years it did hamper the progress.
But nevertheless, the tracks in the album have been finalised and are currently in the improvisation stage. We had to remove a few tracks and add in new ones as there were some essential changes made to the prior theme.
And as we all are aware of this pandemic which is definitely causing a few constraints and making things a bit harder for us, we are still doing our parts remotely along with our regular 9-6 day job from home shifts!
Once the lock down phase is done we are ready to hit the studio for recording.
We cannot wait to show out to people what’s been cooking all this time!
What other plans you have for 2020? What about for 2021?
Well, it’s a lock down phase and whatever other plans that we have are not gonna work anyways for sure.
But yeah, posting the album release. We are also looking out for live shows around the country in 2021 and will also be simultaneously working on new materials. As mentioned before, we do have some suggestions and designs from band members to work upon.
Do you have any message for the ones who are going to read this interview?
Yes, we do.
Just wanna say that you should stay tuned and follow our social media accounts to get the latest updates and watch out for our new singles.
Show some love and support if you guys like our music and what we do.
We hope that you and all your loved ones are safe and doing well. Stay safe, stay home.
Cheers!! Keep it raw!! Stay Metal!!
