It’s always nice to find out about new promising projects.

Two days ago, Alina Stoichici (Out N’ About) and Dan Hurduc (Orphic) released their first song in collaboration, “Malvado”.

We tried to find out more about the song, their future plans and expectations in a short interview.

Who came up with the idea of this collaboration?

Alina:
Although we have known each other for only 3 years, we consider ourselves best friends.
We both perform in two separate rock bands but we were always asking ourselves “Why the f**k don’t we play together?!”. So we decided to move to a new level and start our own little “business”.
One day, I was jamming around and came up with this awesome riff and sent it to Dan.

Dan:
I immediately saw the potential and fell in love with those catchy notes and we soon began to develop new lines and the song took shape.

What inspired you to create “Malvado”?

Alina:
The stoner genre was the liant between me and Dan that soon inspired us to compose a song through which we entered this surreal world.

Dan:
The modes we used and the inner melody of the song made us think of the idea that there’s a thin line between Good and Evil.
Our song lets you get used to “the storm” in order to be aware of it and not to cause it.
The intro bass line reflects the calm before the storm that bursts into an unnstopable commotion.

If you had to choose a band to sing your song, which one would you choose and why?

We would go for the Greek band “1000mods” because they inspired us the most in our project.
We love the moods that “1000mods” manages to lead us through and we think that they are the closest related artists to us.

How hard was to record it during this lockdown?

Even though all the studios we used to go to were closed, our desire to create this project determined us to make our own little studio at Dan’s.
We didn’t have the opportunity to work together as much as we would have liked to due to the lockdown and this made us spend our time wisely.
We started by sending each other little fragments of our ideas but YOU CAN’T DO MUSIC ONLINE! YOU CAN’T FEEL IT!

Would you like to perform this song live when it is possible? If yes, where?

Dan:
I think that “Quantic Club” is the most apropiate place to perform at because I’ve been to several concerts out there including SoundArt Festival. This place has a tremendous history related to stoner and alternative rock genres and also its misteroius ambient makes you feel dreamy and willing to discover the unknown.

Are you planning to release more songs together?

“Claro que si” as we like to say 🙂
Our collaboration is just settling in and we are planning to release a new single each month as we have received a good feedback for our debut song. We think of ourselves as multivalent artists and we would like to explore more genres so as to lead our audience through various states of mind.

Do you have any message for the people who are going to read this article?

Dan:
I encourage you to listen to quality music. There are many amazing artists who have their word to say in the form of music but people choose to listen to shitty music instead of discovering those musicians’ value.

Alina:
Just support your local musicians, it’s very important for emerging artists who had just begun their music career to know that they are on the right way, that their music targets a small group of people now, but soon, with a little encouragement, they will significantly grow.

We want to thank Rock Monsters for giving us the opportunity to share our story and thoughts.
