The progressive metal band from Constanta White Walls will return to the attention of fans with a new official album in 2020. On May 22, the boys will release their first single entitled “Starfish Crown” accompanied by a cinematic music video directed by Iustin Surpanelu with the actor Serban Pavlu in the lead role .

Founded in 2009, White Walls has left its mark on the Romanian metal scene with a unique style, which often intertwines elements of darkness with light, complex riffs, melancholic chords and a balanced mix of anxiety and restraint. The band’s music has been compared to popular progressive metal bands: Leprous, The Ocean, Opeth, Tool and Karnivool.

The next album opens a whole new spectrum of musical paths and offers a more mature sound, 7 years after the release of the previous album, “Escape Artist”. Paying attention to all the details, the band collaborated with Forrester Savell (Karnivool, Make Them Suffer, Animals as Leaders) for mix and master. “Starfish Crown” is the first jewel of the band’s new masterpiece.

Dasu (guitar) said the following about “Starfish Crown”: “It was not easy to choose the singles, but it was not difficult to agree with the fact that” Starfish Crown “will be the first of them.” we could think of it from the moment it was composed, so it had to be the first song on the album shared with the world. ”

Regarding the concept of the video, Serban (bass) says: “We had a well-developed system in order to choose the director of the video (a system that involved watching MANY Romanian videos); at the end of the process, the unanimous decision was to work with Iustin Surpanelu After a few meetings in which we conceptualized what we wanted from the video, the problem of finding a main actor came up.We thought of trying something that at that point seemed unrealisable, more precisely to contact our favourite Romanian actor, Serban Pavlu. To our surprise and enormous joy, he agreed and, together with Alina Petrica, he did a sensational job under Iustin’s lens. ”
