Progressive metal band White Walls will release their third official album called “Grandeur” in the fall. Today, the band reveals the album cover, tracklist and more information about the recording.

Founded in 2009, White Walls have made their mark on the Romanian metal scene with a unique style that often weaves elements of darkness with light, complex riffs, melancholy chords and a balanced mix of anxiety and restraint. The band’s music has been compared to popular bands from the progressive metal scene: Leprousy, The Ocean, Opeth, Tool and Karnivool .

Grandeur” opens a whole new spectrum of musical paths and provides a more mature sound, 7 years after the release of the previous album, “Escape Artist“. Inspired by the state of the world, the title is not only a beautiful word, but also reveals some of the themes underlying the pieces. Paying attention to all the details, the band collaborated with Forrester Savell (Karnivool, Make Them Suffer, Animals as Leaders) for mix and master. Artist Radu Damian took care of the illustrations, making sure they matched the new pieces.

On the conception of the album, vocalist Eugen says: “The writing process for this album was quite different. I wrote the entire album over several writing camps and it was a BLAST. We’ve always inspired each other, so being in the same room making music together was great. There were a lot of Eureka moments! I think this is our most mature album yet.”

Regarding the sound of the album, bassist Şerban says: “Our older listeners will notice that this album is something more “to the point”, say. Our approach this time was to try to focus more on composing songs, and try to avoid the pitfalls in which we have stepped before, as a young prog band, such as the hunger to jump from riff to riff, disregarding the structure, shape and cohesion of musical “journeys”. The end of this process finds us very happy with what we were able to write and how it came to sound.”
