On September 9th, the Icelandic band Of Monsters and Men released their new song, ‘Visitor’. It is the band’s latest original release after their third album, ‘Fever Dream’. They are mostly known for the single ‘Little Talks’, taken from their first album, ‘My Head Is An Animal’.

‘Visitor’ is somewhat a middle ground between the musical style that defined ‘Fever Dream’ and the old folk style of the band’s earlier albums. It is a rather upbeat song in spite of the melancholic feeling of the lyrics, which tell the story of a breakup that left unfinished business and no feeling of emotional closure.
The song is one that has the capacity of both leaving you empty and making you feel understood at the same time, easily relatable, and paints a vivid picture of a relationship that decayed. The lyrics speak of emotional availability or, more specifically, the lack thereof, hitting the core problem of the broken romance.
‘Visitor’ has made OMAM fans excited as it marks the possibility of a future album coming soon. We can only hope that it will come before Summer Well next summer. Of Monsters and Men were supposed to come to the festival this summer and have yet to be reconfirmed for next year’s edition.
