Like a House on Fire is the sixth studio album by British rock band Asking Alexandria. It was released on the 15th of May, 2020 through Sumerian Records.

In spite of their old metalcore influences, this album could be called ‘’ An album for everyone’’ since it has so many different elements from other genres such as electronic (Antisocialist), electro-pop (All Due Respect), R&B(I Don’t Need You), EDM (Antisocialist), pop (Take Some Time) and nu metal(House on Fire).
They’ve developed into a band which is still recognisable from theire first releases, but it’s certainly a very different beast from the one that the metal fans were familiar with.
Like most other bands, their style has clearly changed through the years, and so Distorted Sound claims: “It would be oblivious not to address the elephant in the room; they’ve changed. This album, similar to their last self-titled release will, unfortunately, be cast into the shadows of its previous work regardless of whether the work is actually good. Fans need to stray away from their gate-keeping attitude and listen to Like a House on Fire as if it isn’t the same skinny jeans, flippy black hair, Hot Topic poster boys from 2010… because it’s not. 2020 has seen ASKING ALEXANDRIA into a whole new era of maturity and growth.’’
If every musician went around caring too deeply about what people thought, including their own fanbase, we wouldn’t have Metallica’s Black Album or Bring Me The Horizon’s amo, albums which were not appreciated in the first place but soon turned into an enormous success. So, what about ‘Asking Alexandria’?
‘Like a House on Fire’ is yet another ‘Asking Alexandria’ album that will divide fans’ opinion like their previous self-titled album did. As with any new direction of a band, there will be some that don’t approve, and there will be those that become fans of the band due to this sound. And, once again, the band themselves are unlikely to care.
