Stone Sea is a groovy alternative rock band that blend elements of stoner and world
music into their sound.

Formed in Brazil in 2014 by vocalist and guitarist Elvis Suhadolnik Bonesso, the band
recorded their debut album ‘Origins’. Shortly after, Elvis moved to Ireland, where Stone
Sea became a 3-piece, and recorded their EP’s ‘Vaporizer’ and ‘Mankind Maze’.
We tried to find out more about their story in an exclusive interview.
Why have you made the band?
It’s an attempt to express myself in a way I cannot in society. It’s the perfect way of transforming negative emotions into something positive and artistic that could be constructive to somebody else. Maybe it was even a way to better understand myself.
Where does the name come from?
The bands name is comprised of two words that oppose each other completely. ‘Stone’ symbolizes inner strength and steadfast elements in our lives, and ‘Sea’ represents life’s ever-changing and dynamic nature. Our music reflects these ideas. Highlighting the contrast between strength and submission, stability and fluctuation; Stone and Sea.
You have released a new official music video this month. How hard was to make it considering the pandemic restrictions?
In fact, and luckily, the music video was recorded when I was in Brazil seeing my family and friends on Christmas between December 2019 and January 2020. We recorded it all in five days of around twelve hours each, apart from the pre-production. It wasn’t easy anyway, but surely with the covid restrictions, it would be fairly impossible to make it happen.
If it wasn’t by the covid, we would probably have released it before but in a certain way it was nice that it was ready for my birthday. It’s a really personal song and video.
What inspires your songs?
Human nature, subconsciousness, and anything the rational mind can’t fully understand. I’m particularly dragged by enigmas, mysteries, and paradoxes.
Have you ever thought to combine Brazilian-style with Irish-style in a special album?
Yes, and we already did a song combining our style with Brazilian bossa nova called “Prelude”, which was released in our latest EP “Mankind Maze” (2019). I love mixing world music with slow n’ heavy riffs, I sense such greatness in it.
Brazil or Ireland? Why?
I love them both in different ways. Brazil is warm. The food, culture and landscapes are richer, though most people can’t afford to know them all. Ireland is cold for most of the year, water is basically endless, landscapes are also beautiful though ruthless, beer is fantastic, quality of life is much better in comparison to Brazil.
What plans have you got for the rest of 2020? But for 2021?
We still plan on recording an album this year, so we’re using this time to work on this songs as much as possible. By next year we might record some music videos and hopefully, gigs will be back by then, so once we release them all, the plan is to tour.
With which artist would you like to collaborate in the future?
I would love to be part of one David Lynch’s movie. Musically, I don’t know… we’re pretty open to anything.
Do you have any message for your fans and people who are going to read this interview?
Thank you all for making the release of our music video “Dream Song” a success, we just reached 10k views in less than 2 weeks since its release, which it wouldn’t happen if it wasn’t by you all!
Keep rocking on and helping the artists, we can’t make it without you. ❤
