Grey Daze is an American rock band featuring Chester Bennington on vocals, the well-known front man of Linkin Park, Sean Dowdell – drums and backing vocals, Mace Bayers – bass and Cristin Davis on guitar.

Released on 26 June 2020, Grey Days’s latest album “Amends” showcased the audience a powerful record that offers comfort, but at the same time, an enormous dose of motivation. As a remix alum, composed of Chester Bennington’s vocals from the 90’s over newly recorded instrumentals, ‘Amends’ is the band’s third album released consisting of 11 songs.
Grey Daze was given permission by Chester’s widow, Talinda, to continue working on the project granted that they didn’t change Chester’s voice, presenting it right the way it was when he was just 17.
About the sound of the album, Sean said “Almost every song on the album sounds like a song that would have been written and recorded this year, that is the biggest difference. We took the old grunge feel and kind of twisted that into keeping the angst and aggression that we had without disrupting or distorting the rock sensibility that we were known for and had developed with Chester.”
“Amends” with its nonconformist post grunge style, reveals the wild extremes of living, combining songs full of grief as “In Time” with anthems that embrace the bright side of life, supporting the idea that things will be better (“Sometimes”).
The song that was first released, “What’s In The Eye”, came out right on January 17, giving the audience a preview of this powerful album. The lyrics ”Don’t go too fast my friend, or you’ll love control” comes with a great emotional weight of Chester’s loss.
“Morei Sky” is a representative anthem from this album, beginning with slow piano chords that enhance the heavy lyrics of the ballad: “If I had a second chance I’d make amends, only to find myself losing in the end.”
The album is not afraid of its emotional weight, ending with the poignant “Shouting Out” that contains a voicemail message from Chester when he was just a teenager.
The band has no intention to tour without Chester or replace him with another vocalist and turned down every offer they got to play shows.
