The quarantine was a really hard period for bands and artist. We talked to some bands from all over the world to see the real effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic in music.

Today we talk to Alien feelings, an amazing band from Wrexham.

How can you describe the changes generated by the pandemic in the band’s activity?

The pandemic has had a devastating effect on us as a band and has shit all over the music industry in general. It postponed our debut release “Bondage and lipstick.” Stopped us from performing live and we couldn’t even get together to practice for months, so to say it slowed us down would be an
understatement.

What daily activity did you miss the most during quarantine?

Practicing. It’s an outlet for us, we bring everything that’s going on in our lives and we let it all go to
play at being rockstars for a couple of hours, it’s great for relieving stress. Just show up, shout and
bob about. You feel great afterwards.

Were there any pluses for this period without concerts?

The only pluses for me personally was that I had the time to write a bunch of new material for the
band. Things got weird for me during quarantine and I embraced it. I was stuck in my own head a lot more than I am usually, so I just took more time to explore it.

How does it feel to return to some normalcy?

Sadly normalcy has not returned for us as Wrexham has just gone back into lockdown. But we have
at least been able to get back into practicing and working on some demos of future releases. It’s
been nice to be able to enjoy a drink together in our local though.

What plans have you got for the rest of 2020?

Well, I don’t see us being able to perform live for the remainder of the year, which is heart breaking because there’s nothing that we love more than getting out there in our little van and having a really good fucking time. What we will be doing is practicing religiously to make sure we’re on top of our game for when the time comes. We’re going to try for another music video before Christmas. If you’ve not seen the one for “Scream”, then please check it out on YouTube. You can find it on Facebook and Instagram too. We’re continuing to push the EP, so please make sure to check that out! It’s available on all major music streaming services and we’re hoping to have a limited number of hard copies available in time for Christmas too. We’re always busy doing something, we don’t stop.

Do you have any message for the bands or artists who are still in lockdown/quarantine?

Well we’re in the same boat as them so we know how shit it is. In fact, I know a lot of musicians that are ready to throw in the towel and with more and more venues closing their doors for good I can’t really blame them. We’ve been deemed as unskilled by the government, Spotify takes the piss in how little they pay us and less and less people care about guitar music. Despite that, my message to you all is that the world needs you. It’s only going to take one of you breaking through the cracks to set the tone for the next generation of musicians. The next Noel Gallagher is out there somewhere and it could be you, so don’t give up. It’s your job to save music from the lifeless mainstream. It’s your mission to make music great again. Because even rock bands aren’t rock bands anymore. They’re all trying to bridge the gap between dance music and rock and roll. Just leave the synthesisers out for five minutes and say something real.

What message do you have for the people who are going to read this interview?

Give us a chance, we’ll surprise you. Follow us on all of our socials for which we’ll leave links below
for you to check out. If you’ve not streamed the Bondage and lipstick EP yet, be sure to do so. Tell
your friends about us and support us in anyway you can. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Take care out there, Alien feelings x
