FRIG (translated as cold from the Romanian language) is a band from Bucharest, Romania, and they craft their unique blend of metal and electronic music to create a new creative fusion of modern metal with avant-garde, doom, techno and industrial influences devoted to the theme of Cosmos.
The band strives to represent the frame of avant-garde metal music influenced by progressive and post-industrial metal styles that leaves the explorer band members open to experiment while still sticking to an eruptive sound.

When I discover such great Romanian bands like FRIG, I must admit that I am truly proud to live in Bucharest. Not only that they are one of the most groundbreaking bands from our country, but they have a specific trademark that make them stand out of obscurity. Combining explosive metal progressions with electronic music influences FRIG leaves you desiring for more, even from the first couple of chords.
I’ve discovered an even more energetic side of the band through Gaian and Araise of Ganymede. 3 minutes of pure energy enhanced by the mysterious beginning of electronical sounds that travels you all over the Cosmos and right back into the reality at the end. Like most of their songs, each of them tells a specific dark tuned story, making use of tribal drum fills and powerful bass tones.
Austral really got my attention with the maverick beginning, symmetrical with the end, where you can hear in the background hard breathing and wind sounds specific to a cryptic winter. This album really opens your appetite for avant-garde metal, progressive and doom metal.
I can’t wait to see these guys live as soon as possible. But until this, I keep on repeat their latest releases.
