The quarantine was a really hard period for bands and artist. We talked to some bands from all over the world to see the real effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic in music.

Today we talk to Emily Daccarett. Her songs are ambient synth-pop with blends of 70’s French rock and reflect the collections she is designing.

How can you describe the changes generated by the pandemic in the band’s activity?

I had to put on hold all live gigs with my band and it forced me to work on myself as a solo artist. I’ve been using this time to work with my producer on my new album scheduled to release in January 2021. I also turned to live streaming and finding creative ways to promote my music, while working on my craft.

What daily activity did you miss the most during quarantine?

Going to the gym! I miss that so much. I loved waking up early and walking over to my yoga class and then heading to the gym. Whenever I felt stuck or had writer’s block, I’d go to the gym and it would usually help me pull out of that rut.

Were there any pluses for this period without concerts?

I’ve actually been booking a lot on online concerts. They keep me busy, and it’s nice to be able to interact with my fans even if it is virtually. I’ve been doing it so much that I feel like I’m catching up with old friends.

How does it feel to return to some normalcy?

Having to go back into lockdown, is sadly feeling normal. I just try to keep positive and find alternative ways to keep on creating and hopefully keep my fans entertained during this time.

What plans have you got for the rest of 2020 and for 2021?

Spending time with my nuclear family (my quarantine crew), watching old Christmas movies, old shows like I Love Lucy, and finishing my album!

Do you have any message for the bands or artists who are still in lockdown/quarantine?

Keep on creating and remember as artists we have to adapt. A teacher once told me, “If you feel you have mastered your work, then its time to retire.” It’s something that’s has stayed with me and helps me understand that my journey to “perfection” is far from over, life will naturally push me to evolve.

What message do you have for the people who are going to read this interview?

Take time to time to enjoy the simple things in life, it’s easy to get swept away in the lavish lifestyle we see people pushing on their socials, but empty gratification can never take the place of what really matters in life.
