The quarantine was a really hard period for bands and artist. We talked to some bands from all over the world to see the real effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic in music.

Today we talk to Corpulent Provocateur, a Pardubice-based Czech band founded in 2014.

How can you describe the changes generated by the pandemic in the band’s activity?

This whole situation has forced all musical presentations to move exclusively to the Internet. We have understood this, and that is why we are trying to be more active in this direction.

What daily activity did you miss the most during quarantine?

Ordinary things, common life situations, like meeting family, friends, lunches. Stop for a few minutes for coffee and chat with someone. You only realize how beautiful it is when you don’t have it.

Were there any pluses for this period without concerts?

Since concerts are exactly why we do it all, the pros are very difficult to find. But there is something. You could say it’s nice that we have more time to make new music. In normal mode we are a very hardworking band and we rehearse our songs regularly every week, sometimes several times. All this to give the best possible performance during a concert. There is not much time left for new material during touring. So yeah, finally big new hits are coming.

How does it feel to return to some normalcy?

In the summer we had a slightly more relaxed situation in the Czech Republic for a few weeks, so we managed to play a few concerts. It was beautiful. People really enjoyed going to concerts again, so the performances were great. We can compare this with touring 10-15 years back, before the internet era, when the concert vibe was much stronger. There was a lot of energy and joy in the air. We are very much looking forward to this experience and atmosphere again. Hopefully it will return as soon as possible.

What plans have you got for the rest of 2020 and for 2021?

A few weeks ago we released our single Test, the third of our London recording session from last year, which took place in The Animal Farm Studios with great producers Ville Leppanen and Craig Smith. At the moment, our efforts are aimed at getting this single (along with the music video) to as many people as possible. We are also preparing the release of the last single from the mentioned session.

Do you have any message for the bands or artists who are still in lockdown/quarantine?

Most importantly, don’t fall apart. It would be a shame. It is a difficult time, but it is necessary to endure. It will be better in a few months. In the meantime, like us, you can compose new great songs. There are never too many of them.

What message do you have for the people who are going to read this interview?

Thanks for reading this, guys! If you liked our wisdom and great truths, listen to our music! There are a lot of wisdom and great truths too 😀 Yeah, and please, take care of yourself!
