The quarantine was a really hard period for bands and artist. We talked to some bands from all over the world to see the real effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic in music.

Today we talk to Vulgarithm!

How can you describe the changes generated by the pandemic in the band’s activity?

Absolutely no changes. Vulgarithm was essentially born in the pandemic, so as a musical outfit, it only knows isolation, misery and heartbreak. Which is nice.

What daily activity did you miss the most during quarantine?

Although Vulgarithm hasn’t had a life outside of quarantine, I myself miss being in a room with loud music with other people. Joining as one as we enjoy the music being played, whether that is at a festival, an arena, or a tiny local venue.

Were there any pluses for this period without concerts?

I was able to refine my sound and image, creating an online persona and spreading the word on an even footing as other established bands. I’d like to think that when gigs go back to normal and Vulgarithm appears live for the first time, people will know what it is and come along and enjoy the party.

How does it feel to return to some normalcy?

Where I live there is no normality just yet, briefly had it in summer then ripped away from us again. It’s annoying but I’d rather be safe than ill.

What plans have you got for the rest of 2020 and for 2021?

Work on the new EP, release some more club classic covers on my youtube channel and I don’t know….. make my own line of beer, everyone seems to be doing that these days.

Do you have any message for the bands or artists who are still in lockdown/quarantine?

Yes, use this time to practice, practice and practice. Take every emotion you have and put it into your music. I’d like to think the next 2 years we will finally see a better wave of music as we have all suffered together.

What message do you have for the people who are going to read this interview?

Bands and artists can’t make money doing gigs, and can’t sell merch at shows either. PLEASE go online and buy anything you can off them if you enjoy their music, even if you buy an mp3 album but only listen on spotify, at least you are making a difference to that band or artists life!
