Serj Tankian, the vocalist of System of a Down, released his new single “Elasticity” a few days ago. I admit that I am still thinking if this is a real song or not.
First time I’ve listened to it I was like “Is this the right recording? Is this the song Serj just released?”.
The intro of the song is really promising, but the choruses are just tragic and are really destroying the rest of the song, including the SOAD-type riffs that everybody loves. “Elasticity” is so different from what we expected, it is so different from “Protect The Land” and “Genocidal Humanoidz”, which were released few months ago with SOAD.
I must admit that I headed to Genius to check the lyrics and I finally understood the meaning of them but, oh man, just release the songs without these two parts as it is so much better. (Of course Serj wouldn’t listen to me, why would he?)
In conclusion, the song had so much potential, but it never reached, maybe in a remaster?
Even with this shock, I am still looking forward to the next releases that Serj promised us a few weeks ago… maybe this was just a test.
