I have to say that this is the kind of album that you have to understand and pay attention to, not just listen and enjoy.

The Greek band SKAGS, an Alternative Electronic Psychedelic Rock project, debut with a strong album that will surely make them heard.

Synthwave electronics influences are combined with prog-rock and ethereal vocals in a 12-track album called “Digital Cage of a Cursed Generation”.

This album approaches many serious and contemporary problems in our society such as social discrimination, global warming, social differences, personal problems and loneliness in an enormous city.

It’s a powerful message and its impact is shown right from the beginning with “Turn it on” which tells you to escape from the vicious circle that we tend to remain in, to get rid of the fears and negative thoughts.

With a strong reference on our day’s society, ”Zak” tells an incredible story of the marginalized and unwanted people, with different orientations or beliefs through Zak Kostopolous’s story.

Very powerful and energic riffs emphasized by a strong bass, are kept along with a powerful voice that wants to get the message clearly heard and understood, in order to urge people to make a change, to start accepting the different one next to them and be human again.

“We betrayed you” repeated 6 times brings the spotlight on the dehumanization that altered our society and led to Zak’s death. “May all of us who betrayed the people in need when they needed us the most, at least stand out for their memory.”

A more sensitive song, with a powerful message and poignant male vocals, “Put your hand down” feels like a call for change, to escape from monotony and stubbornness.

“The consequence of dreams” really feels like a journey in a dream, into a distant and parallel world that culminate into a very strong guitar riff and choral voices that intensify until the end of the journey, revealing that our dreams will never end and we should never stop chasing them and turning them into reality.

I’m eager to see what this band is capable of in live performances, so let’s see what awaits us in 2021.

[…] Our album was recorded during the Covid-19 pandemic which made all the procedure very hard for all of us, because we had to reschedule and postpone recording sessions, rearrange new dates for rehearsals and so on. The second lockdown came during the official release of the album. So as you can see, it was a bunch of misfortunes that we overcame and managed to release this album. Apart from that, our rehearsals have been left behind and in reality we can contact each other only digitally for now. […]
