The quarantine was a really hard period for bands and artist. We talked to some bands from all over the world to see the real effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic in music.

Today we talk to Eternal Closure,  a melodic metalcore band that was founded in 2012 in Montreal, Quebec.

How can you describe the changes generated by the pandemic in the band’s activity?

Changes in the lineup mostly haha. We parted ways with Carlos and have now decided to become a 3-guitarist lineup! Having 3 guitarists (with our new members Phil and Marine) forces us to come up with more complex arrangements which is awesome. I (Olivier) can’t wait to show people what the results are.

What daily activity did you miss the most during quarantine?

Playing shows of course, hopefully we can go back to that 100% soon.

Were there any pluses for this period without concerts?

Writing a lot of great new material for an upcoming project. We pretty much invested all our time into that and the results speak for themselves.

How does it feel to return to some normalcy?

Here in Montreal we definitely aren’t back to normalcy. There’s a curfew and most non-essential businesses are closed again.

What plans have you got for the rest of 2021?

Still writing new music and making sure that what we have is worth all the effort we put into it.

Do you have any message for the bands or artists who are still in lockdown/quarantine?

Patience! Use your time to create! With all that’s going on around us, there’s definitely no shortage of inspiration. At least not for me haha. But defying the sanitary measures definitely won’t help in getting back our normalcy quicker.

What message do you have for the people who are going to read this interview?

Please check out our video for “The Slave or the Owner”. It’s off our “Color of Our Fears: Rediscovered” release and it will give you a great taste of what’s to come next for Eternal Closure! Stay safe, healthy and pet your cat for me!
