After a year without releases, the Romanian band Contraband X looks ready for great things in 2021.

On the 6th of March, they released their latest single “Synthetic Memories”, that will be part of their upcoming album “Transference”, which, personally, I am really hyped for.
By morphing in a more atmospheric and dynamic direction, I’d say that Contraband X has finally found their unique style that can push them to become one of the most important East-European bands of this decade.
Going back to the single… Probably the most “shocking” and unexpected part of the song is the intro, a SF-themed one, that reminds us that we are in 2021, a year that symbolizes evolution and, at the same time, an old future.
As always, Liviu Ustinescu’s voice is just perfect for their selected Metal genre, even though their style has changed a lot over the years. Of course, we should also praise the amazing background riffs that teleport us to another world, in which the 5 minutes of the song seems to pass in like a blink of an eye.
If the other songs from the upcoming album will be the same, we should all consider Contraband X a potential winner of Romanian Album Of The Year award in 2021.
