“This is the song that will stay…The one that echoed through the empty space”

No Pan Kissa is a sure to become notorious band from Belgium, always experimenting with their sound which would be described as an ambiguous electric progressive pop-rock combined with a little bit of grunge taste. The music of NPK was influenced by a great altercation of genres, by bands such as Queen, Pink Floyd, Muse, Pearl Jam, R.E.M. .

On January 8th 2021, NPK released a new single called “Captain’s fall” on the Italian label “Marechiaro Edizioni Musicali Napoli”, which immediately became music to every listener’s years. A video clip of this song is also available on their official YouTube channel, facing a phenomenal production.

The loss of control and the interference of technology in our daily lives are some intense topics brought up into this deep ballad. It follows us everywhere, makes us lose our sense of reality and locks us in a “bubble” from which we can no longer escape thus we are no longer completely the captain of our life. It should be a signal for everyone to basically bring it to an end and start living.

The one thing I like about this band (among many other things) is the fact that they have their own unique sound to them. And vibe. This song isn’t overly brutal, but it rather has a cool feeling to it. The guitars have some unique riffs and they’re done with precision. The vocals here are emotional and totally fit the guitars. The riffs and solos are uplifting and fresh a nice way of organizing the song in order to make it interesting. I think that the whole song just smokes.

I cannot fathom why anyone would think ill of this release. It’s quite diverse and mature. The riffs hit home with me, unique stuff like their older material but a little catchier. “Captain’s fall”  is curative in its deliberate pace, ending with a devotional chant that offers a direct balm for deflated spirits.
