“The force of nature is unparalleled. The mind to small to grasp. Essence precedes existence. But not for us. We are to decide our state of being.”- Jean Paul Sartre
Over the last 20 years, Belgium has gifted the metal world with plenty of talented bands , determining an exodus of up-and-comers to try and make it big in the underground scene. Today we are taking a peek at one of those bands, out of Gent, Belgium “La Nausée”, with their first single , “SPLIT”.

The self entitled Sludge metal project’s theme draws inspiration from Sartre’s Nausea, painting an eerie landscape of hopelessness using visceral and bone chilling vocals. The riveting guitar riffs accompany thudding drums making for an adrenaline fueled experience that never lets you off the hook. The more you listen, the deeper you travel into this existentialist nightmare, whose true essence is greatly captured by the eerie lyrics . During the brutal solos you can really smell the reek of rot and decay of dying nature. The song ends as it began, leaving you wanting for more.
With all of this said, i can only hope that they continue with their project, as I’d really love for “La Nausée” to develop on their ideas ( who knows maybe an album next?). I can only hope they receive the support they deserve and I encourage all of you to give their single a listen.
