The quarantine was a really hard period for bands and artist. We talked to some bands from all over the world to see the real effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic in music.

Today we talk to Samuel Konter from Heedless Elegance, a Budapest-based metal band.

How can you describe the changes generated by the pandemic in the band’s activity?

These are dark days in this industry and unfortunately a lot of people suffers because of this situation and the government in Hungary doesn’t give a crap about anyone involved in this industry, except those who has really close connection, friendship with them of course. Especially the background workers, technicians, roads, engineers are left behind. So the overall situation in Hungary is really bad. As much as I can say fortunately, our band is not our number one financial income so this situation for us is not really bad, but we feel the impact by the lack of concerts and opportunities to show ourselves to the world live.

What daily activity did you miss the most during quarantine?

Not really a daily activity ( but mostly yes 😀 ), to go to a local bar to meet with my friends!

Were there any pluses for this period without concerts?

We had a lot of time to focus on our new album called “LIBRA” what we released on the 31th of January. We went to lake Balaton to a weekend house for 3 months. That was the only benefit of this pandemic for us.

How does it feel to hear the idea of returning to some normalcy?

After one and a half year it is hard to believe that it’s actually going to happen, but in the meantime I hope it will only happen if it is truly safe for everyone, I don’t want anyone to die because of someone misjudged the situation!

What plans have you got for 2021?

I think we can forget 2021 and focus on 2022. In 2021 we will have 2 major concerts in Budapest, I hope we can have those events and in the meantime we planing our tours for 2022.

Do you have any message for the bands or artists who are still in lockdown/quarantine?

Try to be positive these days, I know the situation around the world is really bad for everyone, but our bright days are in front of us, because after dark days it will always come.

What message do you have for the people who are going to read this interview?

We love you all, and we hope in the future we could have a closer relationship!
