The quarantine was a really hard period for bands and artist. We talked to some bands from all over the world to see the real effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic in music.

Today we talk to Rozu, a post-hardcore 4-piece from Denver, Colorado consisting of longtime artists Tim Graham on vocals, David Sundine on guitar, Brian Robertson on drums, and Henry Navarre on bass.

How can you describe the changes generated by the pandemic in the band’s activity?

The biggest change in activity was just brainstorming new ideas of content. Normally a bands job and activity is to be selling the product and with everything on hold we had to come up with new ways to stay relevant especially on social medias. It’s just been a weird ass year now and we have all just been working on ourselves.

What daily activity did you miss the most during quarantine?

Honestly there wasn’t just a single activity but having the mindset of doing whatever you wanted to do on that given day being taken away was the thing we missed most. We are a group of explorers and love to travel so being stuck at home for that long destroyed us mentally.

Were there any pluses for this period without concerts?

The biggest plus side was that we didn’t have to worry about a couple of aspects that is part of the band job. We didn’t have to worry about promoting shows or tours and we got to hyper focus on our debut album making that thing the best we could make it. We dissected that album as a whole and got to work more on our release plan for Rue. Having that daily checklist of things to do being so much shorter was both a blessing and curse.

How does it feel to hear the idea of returning to some normalcy?

We have the mindset to where only when we are 100% back open and actually have tours booked, we’ll be happy.

What plans have you got for 2021?

We have a few singles to release and a lot of content to keep our relevancy and hopefully get back to the momentum we had before the lockdowns. Main focus is 2022 at the moment.

Do you have any message for the bands or artists who are still in lockdown/quarantine?

We feel you and are in the same boat. Keeping writing and control what you can control.

What message do you have for the people who are going to read this interview?

Honestly if you’re a new listener we thank you so much for taking the time and we hope you stick around. To all the long time fans we thank you for your continued support and we can’t wait until we get to see all of you again face to face in a safe space!
