REVIEW BY LOREDANA STANGACIU

Blue Door is a rock band from Gothenburg, Sweden, founded in 2016, which consists of four members: Daniel at bass guitar and backing vocals, Dennis – drums, Thomas – lead vocals and rhythm guitar and Karl – lead guitar and backing vocals.

Their style is a mix between many genres such as Blues, Hard Rock and Pop Rock.

“Weird Unicorn in the Meadow”, one of their latest songs, is a rock masterpiece released on January 8th 2021.

Regarding this single, the band explained to us: “In December 2020, there was a loud knock on our door. We looked through the peephole. An explosion of colours and glitter seemed to be at the other side. What was at the other side of the door was truly magical, and we were excited to see what was knocking!

On January 8, 2021, the door slammed open, and everyone managed to see this magnificent creature which had a pointy horn, a nose ring and a green mohawk; which was ready to rock with us.”

My first impression on the song was “This sounds cool”.

The guitar, alongside with the drums, open the song in a lively way. The rhythm is joyful, energetic and steady, it makes you want to get out of your bed on a lazy morning. And Thomas’s voice, the vocalist, is really natural, soft and deep at the same time.

The title is catchy, it makes you wonder what’s it all about. The lyrics create a background about childhood and growing up, how we move from fairytales and unicorns to “cocktails, parties, and cigarettes”.

I simply love the combination between words and sounds, it’s impressive. After listening to “Weird Unicorn in the Meadow” I feel empowered and excited. It’s just amazing.

Make sure to give it a shot. I’ll leave down the links so you can check right now.
