The quarantine was a really hard period for bands and artist. We talked to some bands from all over the world to see the real effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic in music.
Today we talk to Darkest Horizon! Darkest Horizon will immerse you into a massive, timeless, dark and yet beautiful universe. The music, especially from the 2014 album “The Grand Continuum”, is not easy to describe or categorize. It is more than just the sound. It is the feeling and atmosphere that draws the listener into many dangerous and unforgiving realms. That’s why every song is unique and incomparable, while the very roots can be found in the most epic of melodic death metal.

How can you describe the changes generated by the pandemic in the band’s activity?
Covid has put a high evolutionary pressure on many businesses within the music industry to adjust quickly. It forced everyone towards recorded music and sadly many acts who could not or did not want to move there have died out.
What daily activity did you miss the most during quarantine?
Pretty much the very simple things like meeting a couple of friends, going out, socialising, and meeting new people.
Were there any pluses for this period without concerts?
For us the high pressure to move to single releases has been very beneficial. We actually planned this step in late 2019 and with the pandemic we had all the more reason to do so.
How does it feel to hear the idea of returning to some normalcy?
Honestly, it’s great! Just returning to everything as it used to has seemed like an elusive dream, and now it might actually happen.
What plans have you got for 2021?
We will continue our planned releases until December and in parallel plan out the next releases in 2022.
Do you have any message for the bands or artists who are still in lockdown/quarantine?
“Make the best of what you have. Find the current niche where no one else sits and try to get as much out as you can. And for the love of God, just keep on working!”
What message do you have for the people who are going to read this interview?
Appreciate life, appreciate art, don’t lose hope and brush your teeth.
