REVIEW BY MIHNEA CORSOREANU

It’s hard to look for a band just because you want a certain sound, even to find it, because … that requires talent. Luckily for me it happened, while looking for something atmospheric, purely instrumental, I found Sidus. Because I felt it was too good not to share it, this is Sidus!

Based in Berlin, this post-rock sound is created by Spiros Olivotos. On his own, as a one-man band, he has already dropped six singles, working tirelessly to release more.

On November 6, 2020, Sidus released his first E.P. entitled “Seasons Reversed”. A collection of five compositions that combine only instruments to create an atmospheric, cinematic, post-rock vibe.

Named after the album, “Seasons Reversed”, with a dynamic guitar playing, the song is reminiscent of a band like Gojira, which addressed serious global issues. Like them, Sidus presents the problem of climate change in their track. I listen to it many times, and as I do so, I begin to think about the weight of our actions and the consequences of our lifestyle.
By far one of my favorites is “Envy”. This is the song that made me listen to the band and, out of all songs, it offers the greatest energy. It reminds me of the sound of the songs you find while listening to DSBM. As I listened to the song, I felt myself spinning endlessly in an endless concrete tunnel with high pressure in my chest.

Nevertheless, it made me feel something.
If Sidus is the kind of band you are looking for, check it out!
