REVIEW BY CRISTIAN VIDEANU
Following their debut album, “Weight of the Void” , Rotterdam based black metal band Teitan comes up with another interesting project in the form of “Shadowlord”, looking to refresh the dutch underground scene.

As long as we talk about black metal, it must be acknowledged that this genre may not be for everybody. To be fair, at first I was not that excited for their project until the very first bass note dropped. What Teitan achieved with this particular single is a gripping metal record that can be enjoyable for everyone , even if you’re not a fan of the genre. It includes classic black metal tropes such as possesed screams, large and deep sounding bass and guitar coupled with master keypad work. As for the theme they included, it’s with apreciation that I say it was very accessible even for someone who knows little to no satanist or ocultist lore. In the song there is a murder described and what stands out particularly is the protagonist’s descend into the dark realm, feeling real as the vocals change for each character.
Concludingly, what Teitan have got here is a very interesting black metal record, shorter than usual for its genre, but that doesn’t matter, as what they crafted here is some of the most fun I had listening to black metal.
