The quarantine was a really hard period for bands and artist. We talked to some bands from all over the world to see the real effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic in music.

Today we talk to Diseased Earth, an amazing sludge band based in Stauton, Virginia.

How can you describe the changes generated by the pandemic in the band’s activity?

Typically we were playing one to three shows a month, so it was interesting to go to playing no shows at all. The first couple months we didn’t even practice.

What daily activity did you miss the most during quarantine?

Going to a Mexican restaurant and gorging myself on chips and salsa haha. It’s weird the things that you do miss when you can’t do them.

Were there any pluses for this period without concerts?

We got to focus on songwriting as well as finding a new producer to work with.

How does it feel to hear the idea of returning to some normalcy?

I don’t know if we will ever return to a true normal, I feel like some things will change, but maybe that’s not a bad thing. I feel like people are now taking mental health a lot more serious.

What plans have you got for 2021?

We still have a few shows planned for right now, but with the delta variant, I’m not sure if they will still happen or not. So far during 2021, we’ve recorded and released 4 new singles. we have three other new songs that we need to record.

Do you have any message for the bands or artists who are still in lockdown/quarantine?

Just take care of yourself physically and mentally.

What message do you have for the people who are going to read this interview?

Music will never die, just be patient and we can all get back out there and enjoy it once again permanently. In the meantime, Check on Diseased Earth on social media, Spotify, Youtube etc.
