COMA (formed in 1999), one of Romania’s most popular and longest-running alternative rock bands, released the song “Aurora” on November 18th, coupled with a captivating visualizer. On this tune, the Bucharest band approaches an unusual style, a form of trip-hop now available on all streaming platforms.

“Aurora” is a delicate song that is less than 3 minutes long and is appropriate for radio broadcasting. It’s a trip-hop song with electronic music and sensitive, dreamy vocals. The lyrics create a sense of lack and desire, as well as despair and a lack of strength. COMA sings of “long and good hours” and the inability to get out of bed in the morning.
The viewer shows the angle of the sleep blocked, dreaming in bed, with just the window to the outside world as a marker. It also has brilliantly colored effects that smear over the primary image. “Aurora” is the first song from “Parents’ Agreement,” a 6-track compilation that grew out of a creative experiment in which the band members worked separately.
This is how the band explains the song:
„The song bears the name of the Roman goddess of the morning because its message is closely linked to the power that this moment of the day can have on humans, on you. That power to make you, losing yourself in its rays, to have the courage to go to your most abandoned desires, to bring them to light and allow them to explode …
The pink color associated with this project contradicts the well-known negative connotation of the “explosion” by proposing a new perspective on this idea, a perspective of regaining confidence in one’s own strengths, desires and feelings and the courage to let them express themselves.”
