There’s only one month and a few days until Summer Well is finally back at full force. Of course, the amazing British bands are in the line-up and today we are talking to one of them!

In 2019, the amazing Manchester-based band The 1975 rocked the main stage of Summer Well and it looks like Hayes & Y will continue the tradition in 2022.

Hayes & Y were founded in 2011 in Bulgaria, but they soon moved to the UK where the Bulgarian/Finnish band soon found increased popularity and demand of their incredible live shows.

We’ve talked to them about their set and expectations from this year’s Summer Well and here is what we found out:

What is the one essential thing the public should know about the music and you as a band?

We are very involved in each part of the process and have a very DIY approach. We write, record and produce everything – Hayes & Y is as real as it gets.

How do you feel that moving to the UK changed the sound of your music?

It changed immensely! Living in the UK gives you countless opportunities to enjoy great music and this influenced us a lot. Not just that though, from the very beginning we realised that the level of competition is much greater than at home – that made us work much harder and pay greater attention to the fine detail.

It’s your first time at Summer Well, but also in Romania. What are your expectations for this edition and what should the public expect from your show?

We’ve been big fans of Summer Well for years and so many of our friends go every year. Personally, we remember going to a Jack White concert in Bucharest a while ago – completely loved the audience and the city!

This question is for every one of you: Which show wouldn’t you miss for anything in the world at this year’s Summer Well?

Rado: We plan to watch every act this year! Wouldn’t want to miss any of them. If I had to pick one it’d have to be Inhaler.

Blago: I’ve been enjoying Self Esteem’s latest album and am very excited about her performance!

Dennis: Big fan of Roosevelt!

Ivo: I just love listening to Jungle – so groovy!

What are your plans for the second half of 2022? Are you currently preparing a new EP or album?

Our debut LP is ready and is coming out later in 2022. The first single will be out just before we play Summerwell, so very excited about playing it live there! We’ve also announced our biggest headline show up to date, which will happen in December, so the rest of 2022 will be pretty busy for us.

Do you have any message for your fans and people who are going to attend your show?

The show will be a celebration for us, as playing Summer Well has been a long-held dream! Hope everyone will join in!
