On the evening of June 28, at Berăria H, the fusion between the generations took place at an exceptional Implant pentru Refuz (”Implant for Refusal”) concert. The band, also known as IPR, is a progressive metal band founded in Timișoara in 1995, which manages to delight people of all ages even today.
From the first guitar chords, the audience started to move to the rhythm of the music at their tables. However, in front of the stage there were some enthusiastic young people who encouraged the band members of IPR. But, once with the second song, “Sidef”, we all felt a shiver run down our spines that lifted us from our seats and sent us directly in front of the band to sing and dance. IPR’s energy brought a smile on everyone’s lips and the freedom to move and shout the lyrics of the songs: ”În soare deschis” (“In the open sun”), ”Cer-pământ” (“Sky-earth”).
Octavian Horváth’s voice harmonized perfectly with the voices of Dora Gaitanovici and Laura Brat on songs such as “Apus” (”Sunset”), “Ocean” “Rezist” (“Resist”) and “Suras” (”Smile”), songs that transmitted cheerfulness and even made an elderly couple dance which made us all say “this is how I want to be when I grow up”.
What I especially loved about this concert was the way the band managed to communicate and involve the audience in their songs. Moreover, at the request of the public, the vocalist started the third moshpit after making sure that all the people on the sidelines will be safe.
The band was visibly moved when the audience started shouting in unison “BIS” and “IPR”. Luckily for everyone, the boys delighted us with a few more songs: ”În interior” (“Inside”), “Eutro”. The song ”Simplu și Greu” (“Simple and Hard”) was perfect to end this evening, because as the lyrics say: “Everything in nature is analogical / You cannot feel digital”.
This was the first IPR concert that I attended, and I can honestly say, it will not be the last!
You can also find the boys this summer at Rock the Wolves Festival (Open Air) 2022 and at Codru Festival 2022, but also on Instagram.
