Are you a fan of grunge rock? Then Vandaal could be your new favourite band!

Inpired by the music of the ’70s-’90s, having as influences bands such as Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Kyuss, Fu Manchu, Nirvana but also bands from nowadays, such as 1000MODS, Truckfighters and RoadkillSoda, Vandaal is a band you should really keep an eye on.

After the success of their first single, “Devil’s Daughter”, we talked to them about the band and their future plans.

How did you meet?

It all began in 2016 when Larry started looking for people for what would be an alternative Rock project, so he found Ionut and Lucian on a Facebook group for instrumentalists looking for a band. We found Hash on the same Facebook group 5 years later.

How was the band founded?

The band was officially founded in 2021, after we decided to end the “Moksha” project and we decided to find a vocalist, Hash, who came to the audition and didn’t want to leave anymore.

Where does the band’s name come from?

Vandaal comes from our attitude.

In March you released your first single “Devil’s Daughter”. How did it feel and how does it feel now considering the success it had?

The coolest thing that happened was that we had the chance to be heard on the radio for a week, in prime-time, as part of “Artists at the reboot” at Radio Guerrilla, which brought us to the attention of Mihai Manolache ( Vaca Punkista) who “put in a good word” for us to have our first concert at the motorcycle event organized by Sfinti si Pacatosi MF from Buzau.

You’ve collaborated with Mihnea Ferezan and Tudor Byst from RoadkillSoda for the first release. What was the most important thing you learned from them?

The most important lesson I learned from them is that simplicity is the key. Oh, and bring your own headphones.

When should we expect a new release?

We are doing our best to have “Supernova” on all platforms by the end of the year. Until the release of the EP, we prefer to work strictly on its structure and modeling. We dedicate ourselves to the maximum that this material has a reach and an impact as big as possible when someone gives it a play, but that does not mean that there is no room for a few surprises.

Are you currently working on a debut album / EP ? If yes, when should we expect to be released?

The EP is being worked on intensively. “Supernova” will be something special, a material that gathers vibes from many areas and combines them in a completely unique style, we say.

What are your goals and plans for the rest of 2022? But for 2023?

By the end of the year we will have the EP and who knows, maybe a festival or a concert and a much bigger online presence, and for 2023 we are planning many concerts, a lot of work, many songs, and a lot of fun.

With which band would you like to have your first tour and why?

It has to be RoadkillSoda. For obvious reasons. We are their children, but they don’t know that. Yet…

What objectives do you have for the next 5-10 years?

Our main long-term goal is to evolve both locally and internationally, to find people who resonate with our music and to form a community as large as possible. We have ideas and different concepts for tons of materials, but it is very important to have whom to address to, we want to be versatile in composition, but also solid and direct in attitude.

What message do you have for the people who have supported you since the band was born? But for the ones who are discovering the band through this interview?

Thank you for existing, for staying next to us, for discovering us and prepare your ears for what is to come.

Low life, low end, lo-fi.
