White Walls, the progressive metal band from Constanța, returns to the attention of fans with a new video for the song “Darkness, Let The Air Flow!”. The cinematic music video was directed by Luca Nicolaescu from StaySharp Film with Nicoleta Lefter and Sofia Nicolaescu in the main roles. The cover of the single was designed by Alexandru Daș. The song was mixed by George Lever at G1 Productions studio (Sleep Token, Monuments).

Founded in 2009, White Walls made their mark on the Romanian metal scene with a unique style that often intertwines elements of darkness with light, complex riffs, melancholic chords and a balanced mix of restlessness and restraint. The band’s music has been compared to popular bands in the progressive metal scene, such as: Leprous, The Ocean, Opeth, Tool and Karnivool.

2 years after their last album “Grandeur“, the band wants to break away from the traditional long format release cycle, focusing more on smaller releases. After “The Gift“, the band returns with a new single with an oppressive subject.

About the concept of the single, Eugen (vocals) says: “The song is about feral children, about trauma, abandonment, neglect, abuse and fear. The lyrics describe the life of a feral child and how hard it is to survive on your own in the wild. In the end, he drowns in a lake. The refrain is a metaphor and refers to the idea that at birth some have everything and others nothing (not even the right to life). “Darkness, let the air flow!”.”

About the concept of the video, Luca Nicolaescu (director) said: “The video refers to the myth of the Norns/Moires, and is an allegorical representation of the fact that the “thread” of fate “spins” in only one direction, and this movement is irreversible no matter how sometimes we wish it wasn’t like that.”

About the video, Dasu (guitar) said: “We like to give free rein to the artists we collaborate with and we’re never sorry. We’re impressed everytime by their ideas and vision of our music. It’s already known that we make art for art’s sake, and thus a kind of creative lump is created to which everyone adds something. The outcome? A mystical video about fate, cyclicality and the impossibility of truly changing anything.“
