On May 18th, Rana returns to The Pub for their final electric concert in Bucharest from 2023, characterized by the melancholic trademark the band has established over time through its songs.

Rana is a melancholic alternative rock band from Pitești, which came to light in 2016. The band’s sound ranges from alternative rock to indie-emo rock, and the lyrics predominantly revolve around love, sometimes addressing social themes as well. The band has released singles such as “Cer chinezesc” and “Departe,” and in August 2022, they released their debut EP, “Verde electric,” which had a launch event at Crama Marcea in their hometown. Currently, the band is working on their second album, which is set to be released at the end of the year. “Turist” is the first single from their second EP, a song about what it means to love in a city as big as Bucharest. “Turist” and some other songs from their second EP can be heard at the concert at The Pub on May 18th.
Tickets are available here.
“Turist might seem like a simple love song in which Bucharest is mixed as a mere backdrop for the two protagonists. But it’s more than that; it’s about how such a big city can become familiar once you associate it with someone and how you can come to love a city because of that person. Every detail, street, traffic light, apartment building staircase, etc., starts to remind you of someone. You become codependent. And you know it’s dangerous, yet you keep falling into the safety net. But you fall gently, you fall home. Because everything in Bucharest belongs to her, on the boulevard, in her kitchen, nothing else matters. It’s home. You can’t distinguish anything anymore because everything is blinded by that person.” – Bogdan Tănăsescu, about “Turist”
“‘Verde electric’ is a state of being that we have accumulated over the past few years, a state that encompasses the chaos of adolescence, the period of maturation, relationships of all kinds, and our growth as individuals and as a band. This chaos is presented in the form of several songs that express the infinite states we go through and have gone through, in a melancholic form that we hope will become Rana’s trademark.” – Bogdan Tănăsescu, about “Verde electric”.
Rana consists of: Bogdan Tănăsescu – guitar & vocals Sebastian Iordache – drums Matei Mihai – bass
The concert is the first from their Romanian 2023 Summer Tour that will cover 12 cities from all around the country.
