iarba Fiarelor returns to Bucharest for the launch of their new album, “Slobod.” The event will take place on Saturday, July 22, 2023, starting at 9:00 PM, at CREART – Grădina cu Filme, located at Piața Alexandru Lahovari no. 7.

“Slobod,” the second album of iarba Fiarelor, is a celebration of human music. The material is designed to represent a kind of new age, which Romanian music has not had the opportunity to experience at the appropriate time, in parallel with other cultures.

“While Romanians of all ethnicities were obediently confined within the country, a new age movement was happening abroad, representing an evolved form of folk and/or popular music. The folk of the Anglo-Saxons and the popular music from the Latin line are one and the same music – not for parties, not for drinking, not for feasts, but for good people. Etno, as well. But all these denominations have been corrupted by their improper use in different contexts.

In Romania, the popular music was separated from the urban folk to belong to the peasants. However, now is the time to wander freely and bring songs with unrestrained and harsh expression, from an oasis of freedom where music can be expressed without constraints or limitations.”

“Slobod” follows the same recipe as the band’s first album and includes 12 tracks, among them a mantra called “Uliu Dansând” (Dancing Eagle). It is accompanied by a video that can be watched on the band’s YouTube channel.

The album is available in digital format on streaming platforms and can be downloaded for free from Bandcamp.

Tickets are available online at Eventbook.ro and at the CREART Ticket Agency (Piața Alexandru Lahovari 7, open Thursday – Friday 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Saturday – Sunday 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM). Online tickets can be purchased here . Access to the event will start at 8:00 PM.

About iarba Fiarelor

iarba Fiarelor was launched in 2018, at the Museum of Comparative Art in Sângeorz-Băi. Alongside live performances, iarba Fiarelor recorded their first studio album – “Desculț” (Barefoot), which was released in June 2020.

In mythology, “iarba fiarelor” is a mysterious plant that unlocks locks. The “Fiarele” (Beasts) in the name “iarba Fiarelor,” written with a lowercase “i” and an uppercase “F,” refers to both the beasts of the forest and the metallic beasts. Legend has it that you understand the language of animals if you possess this miraculous plant, and it also grants you supernatural powers, invincibility against weapons, the ability to unlock locks, and to escape.

The band’s activity is available online, check them out now!
