Before I tell you what I plan on doing with the series “Giant Steps”, I need to make something clear: there is no objective measurement of quality in music. Anyone who tells you otherwise has no clue what they are talking about. Because of this, everything I say from now on should be treated strictly as an opinion, unless indicated otherwise.

Throughout my life, music has played a key role in my development. Some albums have impacted me in such a way that I can still remember the feeling I got the first time I listened to them. Most of those albums also happen to be some of the most influential in the history of modern music.

These albums are the “Giant Steps”. Giant steps for music as a whole, as well as giant steps in my life. In this series, I want to tell you about albums that are important to me and that I think are important for music as a whole. I will not be discussing their flaws here. I think pointing out mistakes in music inevitably comes with an aura of snobbism. What I want to point out are the distinctive qualities of each work, what makes them great.

I know the power music can have over people because I know the power it has over me. If I can help one person find an album that resonates with them on a deep level, this series has done its job. Even if you have already listened to every album I will post about, maybe you will find some interesting insight in my writing.

That being said, my next article will be on what I think is the greatest album of all time. Before then, you can find me on Instagram at @ieduarddd (or @edistrate if you want to check out my music). See you around.
