2023 sees FARBA KINGDOM dominating the Romanian music scene, yet their story remains familiar to only a handful.

Until 2022, FARBA KINGDOM remained relatively unknown. The musicians, residing and performing in Odessa, Ukraine, had frequented small clubs and art exhibitions since 2020. However, their lives took a drastic turn with the onset of war in Odessa. In response, Daniil and Lisa, the duo’s members, along with their two small children, abandoned everything and sought refuge first in western Ukraine and later in Romania.

During their stay at a refugee center, FARBA KINGDOM orchestrated a performance at the concert hall in the small town of Radauti, Suceava. The audience comprised not only local young goths but also fellow refugees from various backgrounds, including Ukrainians, Arabs, Indians, Africans, and more.

Subsequently, the musicians showcased their talent in Suceava, participated in a festival in Constanta, and eventually settled in Bucharest after the New Year in 2023. Establishing a regular presence in local pubs, they rapidly garnered a dedicated following in Bucharest and its surrounding areas.

The turning point arrived on September 30 when the renowned Turkish post-punk duo SHE PAST AWAY was scheduled to perform at Control, one of Bucharest’s premier clubs. Impressed by FARBA KINGDOM’s potential, the club’s management invited them for a joint concert. The event sold out quickly, drawing fans not only from Bucharest but also from the UK, Germany, and the USA, as European booking agencies had yet to recognize the group. The concert left a lasting impression, with the audience chanting “Farba Kingdom” even during SHE PAST AWAY’s performance.

On October 1, FARBA KINGDOM opened the Blue Biennale “Oxymoron,” a large-scale art festival in Brasov, with a captivating musical performance.

Finally, on November 3, 2023, the duo took the stage at Quantic Club, Romania’s largest and most renowned club. This recognition culminated in FARBA KINGDOM being acknowledged as one of the top 10 European groups of November by EUROPAVOX.

Farba Kingdom, a duo seamlessly blending darkwave, post-punk, and industrial elements, stands out as a unique musical entity. Their melodies and musical prowess distinguish FARBA KINGDOM within the genre, earning them well-deserved recognition.
