Before the concert on November 18th at Arenele Romane, byron releases a music video for the most complex song in the band’s repertoire – “În Infern” (In Hell). Written in a single day, orchestrated in 6 months, and filmed in two days, the ten-minute piece concludes the new album “Efemeride.” The video for the song was directed by Barna Nemethi and features dancers Cezara Pretendeanu and George Plesca in a choreography symbolizing our daily struggle with anxieties and concerns, illustrating the fragile balance within each of us.

Dan Byron, the lead singer of byron, stated, “My parents’ generation believed that if you go to therapy, you’re crazy. I know that many from my generation still believe this, while we are all exposed to factors not very friendly to mental balance. We foolishly strive to prove to everyone that our lives are damn desirable. We communicate more than ever, but our communication has become more of a self-promotion, a projection of a character that we imagine could be appreciated by others. These are discussions we never have, and if someone braver than us tries to, we often try to change the subject, joking that we’re too tired for something so deep. We are all in a hell that looks beautiful on the surface, lying to ourselves that the basement is totally ignorable as we take the next selfie smiling at the camera.“
Barna Nemethi, director, writer, and photographer, chose dance to explore the theme of the song “În Infern.” He believes that the dance of a couple reveals some contrasts often found in the complexity of human emotions: tension, the play between euphoria and despair, between freedom and restriction.
Barna Nemethi, the director of the “În Infern” music video, said, “The challenge posed by the song is its length and unusual structure. We aimed for a circular, fluid, and slowed-down movement that spins the viewer on a journey to the climax, a kind of fall, rise, exit into hell. Nicolae Anghel, responsible for cinematography, together with the StaySharp team, managed to contribute to an excellent realization. Cezara and George were wonderful, and a large part of the video’s success is due to their performance.“
The video is produced by Stay Sharp Film.
On November 18th, at Arenele Romane, byron will perform the launch concert for the new album “Efemeride.” Special guests at the concert will be Dora Gaitanovici and Pinholes. Tickets for the event are available HERE.
About byron:
byron plays rock with diverse influences, formed in 2006, and has since released 7 studio albums and three live DVDs. They are accustomed to performing on large festival stages in front of thousands of spectators, as well as unplugged, without amplification, for a handful of people. They filmed a concert in Salina Turda (100 meters deep) because it was an unmissable challenge and composed the soundtrack for an original HBO Romania series. They occasionally perform 100% improvisation concerts (Impromptu series), and in December 2014, they filmed the “Electric Marching Band” concert at the National Theatre in Cluj with a military brass band and a choir of students, whose DVD release was supported by a short tour of screenings in cinemas. This was followed by the album “Eternal Return,” recorded in High Resolution in Dublin’s famous Windmill Lane studios and mastered at Abbey Road in London.
At the end of 2019, byron released the album “nouă” entirely composed in Romanian, through a sold-out concert at Arenele Romane in Bucharest.
