Last week, Alternativ Quartet announced the first launch concerts for their new albums, “Deocamdată suntem” and “Departe de solstițiu.”

“After lengthy preparations, we are delighted to announce the first launch concerts for the new albums by Alternativ Quartet — “Deocamdată suntem / Departe de solstițiu.” We have the pleasure and privilege of being able to meet you at three special locations, each with a remarkable character and history, which we have chosen to properly present these albums and this show, on which we have worked for several years.
We invite you on December 5th to the National Museum of Art of Romania in Bucharest, on December 8th to the Palace of Culture in Iași, and on December 14th to Casa Tranzit in Cluj-Napoca for a two-hour concert accompanied by video projections and a Brass Ensemble from the Philharmonic in Cluj-Napoca. We invite you to be with us in this unique moment, where we allow ourselves to reflect on a fact so simple but often forgotten: the fact that “Deocamdată suntem” (“For Now, We Are“).
You will also find vinyl records with the new albums, a photo book produced in collaboration with Italian photographer Matteo Scarpa, merchandise created in collaboration with Andreea Ilisăi, and much more. Tickets are available through the iaBilet.ro network.”
About the band:
One of the first Romanian bands to venture into post-rock compositions and delicate sound experiments, Alternativ Quartet, was formed in 2008 in Bistrița / Cluj-Napoca. Since then, they have released a series of seven albums that track their continuous development.
From the initial compositions inspired by Sigur Rós, such as “Când nu cânt,” “Mulțumesc,” and “Nu uita că te aștept,” to pieces with a distinctive sound like “Moscova,” “Liniștea astupă goluri,” and “Sunet prea dactil,” the band manages to express, in a personal voice, the music from which they draw inspiration: Isis, The Books, Mogwai. The cinematic album “Iglu / Stasis” marks a transition to an even more personal space, situated at the intersection of intimate closeness and distant abandonment, disrupting a moment of great uncertainty.
This year marks a new chapter for Alternativ Quartet with two albums that increasingly shift from guitars to organs, synthesizers, wind instruments, and classical percussion, offering the songs a more vast and monumental sound: “from Doom to Autotune.”
