Cuibul are rock ‘n’ rolling in full force in their new single, ”Kippah” (the rounded skullcap worn by Jewish men).

The song’s theme stems from losses and eternal hopes. The music video tells the story of an angel with a kippah who finally finds on Earth everything that people usually dream of finding in the heavens.
The message can vary for each listener and can be interpreted in many ways, but for Cuibul, the song self-ironically reflects some of the changes in Moldovan society in the period following the collapse of the Soviet Union. Then, with the opening of borders, many Jews from Moldova started a mass migration to Israel. It so happened that many of the acquaintances of the band members, friends, and musicians took the opportunity to leave, posing as Jews, even though they knew little about the life and customs of their new sought-after heaven.
“Kippah” is recorded and performed in both Romanian and English.
The music video of the song was filmed in the Republic of Moldova. The direction and screenplay are signed by Serghei Sîrbu, with Evgheniy Dedkov as the cinematographer.
