Taking Back August, the modern metalcore band from Bucharest, will be launching their album “Chrysalis” on Thursday, February 8th, at Expirat, Halele Carol, in a BandBook event. The album’s theme embraces the concept of Alpha and Omega, representing life and death, where life stands on a pedestal surrounded by shadows.

Taking Back August is a Modern Metalcore band originating from Bucharest, formed in 2020. In their first two years of existence, Taking Back August has had many experiences and challenges, such as participating in the Posada Rock and Metal Gates festivals, and the lead vocalist Alex Precup also participated and placed second in Superstar Romania 2021.

The first single, “Welcome Home,” was released in October 2020 along with a lyric video. The song’s message, well defined, courageously surpassed the barriers imposed by listener expectations. After the release of the first single, the band worked intensively on their first album, the EP “The Devil’s Crown,” released in September 2021.

The band has shared the stage with the well-known German band Lord Of The Lost as well as Romanian bands like White Walls, Implant Pentru Refuz, Coma, and E.M.I.L.

The concert will be opened by Valak and June Turns Black.

Valak is a metal band based in Bucharest. The band’s first album, “Snakes,” features a style of melodic death metal combined with metalcore, while their second release, the EP “Overlock: To Absolute Zer0,” adds elements of progressive metal to the mix.

June Turns Black is one of the most spectacular new appearances in the Romanian metalcore scene, with a style they themselves define as electronicore/screamo djent. The Bucharest-based band has attracted attention from the very first songs released. At present, they have 3 songs released with official videos, and a remix EP.
