Do you ever wake up and have no idea where you are? I’m talking about the feeling that usually lasts for only a few seconds, after which you realize you are not lost, and you know the place. Later, you remember how you got there in the first place, and the mystery is completely solved. You might simply call this feeling “confusion,” but I think it’s more than that. It is like for those brief moments you are thrown into a brand new world where, instead of asking questions, you just acknowledge the strange situation you are in. If that feeling lasts for a little over an hour, you might be at an Amalia Gaiță concert.

Trying to explain the meaning behind Amalia’s songs feels like judging a painting by what it smells like. To me, the meaning she gives to a song is nothing but a tool to help guide the creative process. Like Amalia herself said during the concert, this sort of experience loses its purpose the moment we try to explain it.
That being said, I cannot write a meaningful review of this concert because its very nature prevents me from doing so. I will try to give you a hint at what the experience was like from a purely sensorial perspective, but the only way you will really understand what an Amalia Gaiță concert feels like is by attending one. This article serves more as a movie trailer than a critique. After reading it, you should have a vague idea of whether this show is right for you.
Visually, the show was stunning. The trippy projections made for a very intriguing atmosphere, and the overall light show was made to fit the general vibe of Amalia. Also, her outfit had no business being that cool. I have no idea how to describe what fashion style it might belong to, so I just suggest you look at the pictures.
This was a very high-intensity act. Amalia’s energy was through the roof. Her way of physically expressing emotion also makes for an exceptionally contagious performance. The whole room was filled with emotion—her emotion. There are very few things more contagious than intense and well expressed energy. Seeing a show like this is pretty rare, so I cannot help but praise her for the performance.

Her vocals are on another level. She sings in a surprisingly unconventional way, usually in a high-pitch register. There is no doubt she has worked a lot to achieve that sound. She is obviously a master at her craft, and the unique element of her music does not come from a lack of musical knowledge.
The complexity of her songs also helped boost the feeling of blissful confusion I felt during the show. Her latest album “MIMOSA” is especially weird, in a cool way. The first song of the album, “Elixir” is a perfect example. The way it’s arranged, the strange sounds and the extremely complex rhythm all contribute to creating a unique feeling.
The concert had a relatively small crowd compared to the level of the performance. While this did contribute to a lack of atmosphere, it is important to recognize that this is not in any way Amalia’s fault. As a general rule of attending concerts, you should understand that a lack of audience is not always a consequence of a bad performance. As I have previously mentioned, she is a unique artist. With that sort of eccentricity, you can’t always expect her to have full-house concerts. However, there is a lot of room to grow, and I look forward to seeing her evolution.
I hope she gets to experience whatever level of success she dreams of achieving. You can see the hard work she puts into her music and shows, a fact that should not be forgotten or ignored. As an open person when it comes to new experiences, I believe an Amalia Gaiță show is well worth attending. Although you might feel that it was too much for your taste by the end of the show, you will undoubtedly see something new. For that, I thank everyone involved in making this performance possible.
