The Bucharest public is invited to come in large numbers to celebrate Munteanu‘s birthday and the act of kindness. By attending the festival, they will also support the construction of Romania’s first-ever theater built entirely from donations—Grivița 53.

The annual charity festival “Munteanu Fest” has reached its 8th edition. As every year since its inception, Bogdan Munteanu invites friends, acquaintances, the curious, compassionate people, and art enthusiasts to a memorable birthday celebration to support a noble cause: the Grivița 53 project. All this will take place at Expirat Halele Carol on October 15.

Artists Ana Coman, D-L Goe, Prima Dragoste, Andra Andriucă, and Marinov will join this effort, performing pro bono during the festival.

Bogdan has turned the festival idea (originally created by his friends in 2016 as a thoughtful gift) into an annual project that supports various causes. This year, the festival aims to raise funds for Grivița 53, a unique artistic initiative with the goal of constructing the first theater in Romania’s history built entirely from donations. How will they do this? Brick by brick! It’s been 78 years since a privately initiated theater has been built. In 1946, engineer Liviu Ciulei built a theater for his son, director Liviu Ciulei, using family funds. Grivița 53 continues this tradition. It is a community-driven initiative, a unique and concrete example that will inspire future generations.

I sold my grandmother’s house, and with the money, I bought the land where we are building. Then, I established the Grivița 53 Cultural Association to give everyone who shares this dream the chance to become co-founders alongside me. By the NGO’s statutes, the cultural purpose of the building can never be changed. We are defined by what we do and what we leave behind. This space is the legacy we leave for Bucharest. I took the initiative… but each of you can help see it through,” said Chris Simion-Mercurian, the initiator of the Grivița 53 project.

Tickets for the event can be purchased here and  are available in several price categories:
– A theater show: 50 lei
– A cornerstone: 75 lei
– Art consumer: 100 lei
– Theater lover: 150 lei
– Grivița 53 brick: 300 lei

The brick can be physically received at the event and will have the purchaser’s name engraved on it.

A purchased ticket grants access to the festival and serves as a donation to the Grivița 53 Cultural Association. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Grivița 53.

The charity festival is organized by Munteanu Events and narrated by RFI Romania.
