PLANT was formed during the uncertain period before and during the 2019-2021 pandemic. They present themselves as a stylish trio consisting of Sergiu Frățilă on vocals and guitar, Dan Gugiu on bass, and Teodor Șindrilaru on drums. Their music was first made available with the release of DEMOS (2021), a collection of four tracks self-recorded and mixed in anticipation of their debut concert that same year at Filaret 16. They soon began collaborating closely, first with the band D.E.N.I.S. and later with Cardinal. These collaborations formed a triplet dubbed by Bogdan Șerban (Radio Guerrilla) as “the new wave of post-punk,” a lineup with which they performed a mini-tour across several cities in the country.

With their growing experience, PLANT released their debut album Electrocasnic (2023), a collection of tracks that span the entire emotional-ironic spectrum, incorporating domestic, digital, and elements of Romanian pop culture, all wrapped in a mellow punk vibe.

This fall, PLANT is releasing the EP BAU!, featuring feedback, kickdrums, irony, and horror blaring through the speakers for the delight of the punk-obsessed listener who sees punk as light music. The EP was released on October 18th and is available on all platforms, with a video for the track Strigoiul, a surprisingly natural mix of old horror films and wrestling, set to hit the internet on October 25th.

In the near future, on October 31st, D.E.N.I.S. and PLANT will continue their Halloween tradition for the third consecutive year with a special show within the walls of the Control Castle. The afterparty will be handled by aim+wall straight from the mixing coffin, and DJ Trinkova with her hypnotic Egyptian rhythms.
