What is SESAME?
SESAME (Set Sail to Music Export) is a dynamic project that supports emerging artists from France, Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Moldova, Turkey, and Georgia. Through initiatives like songwriting camps and live sessions, SESAME fosters cross-cultural collaboration and provides a platform for artists to create, learn, and share their music with new audiences. This project is supported by LiveMX and the French Institute in Romania.
The SESAME project is co-financed by the European Union through the LIVEMX program and is implemented in Romania by the Star Education Association in partnership with the French Institute.
About the Star Education Association
The Star Education Association was founded in 2007 with the primary purpose of supporting Romanian artists and musical creation and developing educational programs in the music field. It organized the first editions of the Mastering The Music Business conference (2016–2018 and 2020) as well as the Music Industry Explained (IME) courses.
About the French Institute
Under the supervision of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the French Institute in Romania was established in Bucharest on May 30, 1924. Its mission is to promote cultural, linguistic, and academic cooperation, as well as collaboration with institutions and representatives of civil society, alongside other institutes representing the same French cultural network abroad.
This year, the French Institute in Romania celebrates its Centenary, an occasion to honor a hundred years of cultural, artistic, academic, educational, and scientific cooperation, while marking a deep-rooted friendship actively supported by the Francophone community in Romania. This festive year serves as an inspiring framework to shape the future, with solid foundations anchored in a rich and dynamic ecosystem that pays special attention to youth, new creations, research, exchanges, and the commitments of civil society.
