On February 5, ILINCA & Gadjo Dilo released their latest single, “Ding Deng Dong”, taken from their upcoming debut album, Balkan Mama.

“We released ‘Ding Deng Dong’ with the Gadjo Dilo project to bring infectious energy and humor to our music. Sung in Romani, the song tells the story of a young man who sets off for Vienna, hoping his uncle will help him settle there. However, when he arrives at the door, his uncle refuses to let him in. With an upbeat rhythm and Balkan jazz influences, ‘Ding Deng Dong’ blends tradition with modernity, turning an unfortunate event into a lighthearted story. We wanted this song to bring smiles and good vibes—just like any tale told with heart and rhythm,” says ILINCA.

The album Balkan Mama will also be celebrated with a release concert on April 4, 2025, at Flying Circus Club in Cluj-Napoca, the city where Ilinca currently resides. Tickets are available on iabilet.ro.

About ILINCA & Gadjo Dilo

ILINCA & Gadjo Dilo fuse traditional Romanian lăutărească music with rock, blues, and jazz. The band’s founder and lead vocalist, Ilinca Băcilă, first gained recognition for her unique yodeling technique. In 2015, she reached the semifinals of The Voice of Romania, and in 2017, she represented Romania at Eurovision, finishing 7th in the grand final in Kyiv.

In 2022, Ilinca launched Ilinca & Gadjo Dilo, and within just two years, the band has performed dozens of concerts, gone viral for their creations, and is now gearing up for their much-anticipated debut album release this March.
