Music lovers and cultural enthusiasts are invited to an intimate evening of storytelling, music, and conversation as Mihai Câmpineanu — known to most as Michi, co-founder of the pioneering Romanian electronic band Șuie Paparude — joins anthropologist Ruxandra Păduraru for a special edition of “Cozerie.” The event will take place on Wednesday, May 14, at 7:00 PM, on the terrace of J’ai Bistrot, located on Calea Griviței 55 in Bucharest.

“Cozerie” is not your typical interview format. It’s a casual and engaging dialogue series where each guest selects a few personal songs and shares the stories behind them. Through these conversations, music becomes a window into defining life experiences, personal transformations, and cultural insights. The atmosphere is relaxed, the format is spontaneous, and the intention is to connect through honesty and shared emotion.

Michi, the evening’s guest, is one of the most influential figures in Romanian electronic music. As a co-founder of Șuie Paparude, a band that has been active for over 30 years, he helped define a sound that blends alternative sensibilities with electronic experimentation. From their debut in 1995 with the single “La mare” to opening for Depeche Mode in front of 40,000 people in 2006, Șuie Paparude has continually redefined itself. Albums like “E suflet în aparat” (2010) and “Noul Album” (2020) illustrate the band’s enduring relevance and creative vision.

A classically trained musician, Michi studied piano at the Iosif Sava School of Music and Fine Arts. In an interview with Pressalert, he reflected on the profound musical influence of his father and the ever-present soundtrack that filled his childhood home. This edition of “Cozerie” will explore his path from classical roots to the world of electronic and new wave music, with stops along the way to discuss sincerity in art, the role of music in society, and how Șuie has evolved over the decades.

Ruxandra Păduraru, the host and creator of “Cozerie,” brings her experience as an anthropologist and university lecturer into the space of cultural dialogue. She is known for her thoughtful questions, her calm presence, and her belief in music’s ability to connect us. Her mission with this series is to create a space for unfiltered emotion and honest reflection — a rare and needed pause in today’s overstimulated cultural landscape.

The event will open with an hour of socializing, followed by the featured conversation from 8:00 to 9:00 PM. After the discussion, guests will be invited to stay for a curated playlist selected by Michi himself, along with a raffle and informal gathering. Attendance is free, but due to limited capacity, access is based on registration. Those who register are asked to do so responsibly and notify organizers if they are unable to attend, so that seats can be released for others. The event will be held outdoors, and in case of rain, it will be rescheduled.

“Cozerie cu Ruxandra” is supported by Bazar de Muzică, Cărturești, the VINARIUM International Wine Contest, and BandBook. Media partners include Radio România Cultural, Zile și Nopți, Munteanu Recomandă, Daily Magazine, Rock Monsters Romania, and CriticEyez. The event poster was designed by Mihai Băncilă, and the background music during the conversation will be provided by Delta Pe Obraz, a poetry rock band from Chișinău.

This is more than a talk. It’s an invitation to listen deeply, reflect, and rediscover music not just as entertainment, but as a mirror of who we are.
