On May 30, Club Encore in Bucharest will host the first official warm-up party for Metal Gates Festival 2025, featuring a powerful lineup of Eastern European metal acts: Monastery, Umbersun, and Mauna Sol. This special event sets the stage for the festival’s return this September and offers fans a taste of the intensity to come.

MONASTERY (Hungary)
A cult name in the Eastern European death metal scene, active since 1989. Monastery’s sound has evolved from brutal death metal to incorporate shades of death/nu-metal during its middle era. Now returning in full force with a new album, Revenge is Mine, the band brings lyrical themes that have shifted from death and evil to a critical introspection of society and human obsession. Expect not only their four-album discography but also new material from the upcoming release on the Encore stage.
UMBERSUN (Cluj-Napoca, Romania)
A rising force in Romania’s doom/death metal scene, Umbersun offers a dense and atmospheric sound, blending sinister keyboards, crushing riffs, and expressive vocals. Their debut album, Endless Winter Nights, delivers a sonic journey into the darkest depths of the human psyche.
MAUNA SOL (Brașov, Romania)
Originally an instrumental black metal project, Mauna Sol has evolved into a complex and mature band with a full lineup. Their musical style merges diverse influences with deep lyricism and a captivating stage presence. The band made its live debut at Rockstadt Fest 2022 and quickly became a staple of the Brașov and Romanian underground scene.
