“Viața la mâna a doua” (“Second-Hand Life”) announces Toulouse Lautrec’s seventh studio album, with the single set to be released on November 15 through a special concert at Quantic Club in Bucharest, that will be opened by :umbra and RusT.

After the albums Heroes, Extraordinar, Dejun pe iarbă, X, A fost sau n-a fost, and Ultratonic, the band’s creative process has reached an apocalyptic seventh phase.
“Viața la mâna a doua is a song about the countless choices we have to make, our need to change something, to start over, to give up everything. Breakups, failures, obsessions, love, passion, fomo, escapism, all of these define us as humans. How many times have you wanted to change everything? How many times have you said you’ll start from scratch? Life is like a long train journey. There are many stations, but only a few junctions. When the locomotive changes or you have to switch cars, you must make sure you are in the right place. Are you ready?” says Cătălin Rulea from Toulouse Lautrec.
Lyrics excerpt – “Viața la mâna a doua”
I draw landscapes in a folder with a clip
I want to swim in the sea, locked inside a car
I dream of mountains and oceans from a couch
I give you my life, my life
I give you my life, second-hand
It was beautiful, but it used to rain
I want another one, I’ve paid the deposit
Try it on, I invite you to dance
Cardboard landscapes, in a fake décor
Clay people, walking in place
Years and years, without you
Years and years, without you
You know that feeling when you want to scream in your sleep
I want to wake up again, I want to be human
I feel like I’m shouting with a woolen tongue
I want to let the bird in my hand fly
Toulouse Lautrec are a memory of Little Paris in the 2000s, a black and white photograph of a back to the future film still where the actor holds a size 16 wrench. The band borrowed from the painter’s personality and spread it through radio waves and stages across the country. In an era of “post” everything, Toulouse Lautrec are post indie rock, post mainstream, and post underground. They have survived Myspace, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Spotify, and now they are facing artificial intelligence. They remain four guys with guitars and drums who have been reinventing themselves for 14 years. With six albums, dozens of charted songs, dozens of music videos, and countless concerts across about seven countries and seven seas, Toulouse Lautrec continue to evolve while staying true to their unmistakable style.
