This Saturday, November 29, we’re in for a special treat as British artist Yellow Days brings his unmistakable sound to Control.

George van den Broek first captured attention with his intimate brand of bedroom pop, but it quickly became clear that his expressive guitar work and cathartic instrumentals would propel him far beyond the genre’s boundaries. His track “Gap in the Clouds,” taken from his debut EP, reached a global audience after being featured in the trailer for Season 2 of Donald Glover’s acclaimed series Atlanta.

Through his psychedelic, lo-fi aesthetic, Yellow Days paints vivid portraits of adolescence, later evolving into heartfelt odes to married life. Philosophical at his core, his music isn’t afraid to confront the difficult questions—guiding listeners through emotional growth, contemplation, and vulnerability.

As he matured, van den Broek expanded his sonic palette, drawing inspiration from experimental, jazz-tinged artists such as Thundercat and Tame Impala, as well as the grungy playfulness of Mac DeMarco, with whom he shared a memorable collaboration.

Following his 2017 breakthrough full-length Is Everything Okay in Your World?, Yellow Days relocated to Los Angeles, where he crafted the vibrant and soulful A Day in a Yellow Beat (2020). Two years later, he returned with a pandemic-era EP trilogy—Slow Dance & Romance, Apple Pie, and Inner Peace—a psychedelic-soul exploration said to reflect “his mindset in lockdown.”

Often compared to artists like Gus Dapperton and HOMESHAKE, Yellow Days continues to offer a refreshing and deeply human perspective in today’s music landscape. Whether you’re seeking smooth, soothing grooves or introspective lyrics that echo your own inner world, Yellow Days remains an artist worth diving into.
