Today, January 23, byron release the song “De ce să fie simplu dacă poate fi complicat”, a new single that kicks off a special year for the group, the celebration of their 20th anniversary.

“De ce să fie simplu dacă poate fi complicat” brings together many of the band’s recurring themes: lucidity, irony, empathy, and the need to look reality straight in the eye, without unnecessary gloss. The lyrics directly address the contemporary social and political context, with uncomfortable and ironic observations.
“Inspiration is all around us. I was in Sicily, visiting some friends, and we were talking over a glass of wine about… trash. About how it’s sorted, about what different types of plastic mean for nature. The next day, thinking about that conversation and philosophizing, like anyone who gets bored lying in the sun on a perfect beach, I realized that trash is actually pieces of the past that refuse to disappear. There are so many pasts haunting our present and affecting us, nostalgics from bygone eras stubbornly trying to shape the present in the image and likeness of their youth, and we keep looking over our shoulders like children frightened by the inevitable unknown. De ce să fie simplu dacă poate fi complicat? We live in increasingly interesting times, and we all hope they don’t become even more interesting,” says Dan Byron.
Although the lyrics are sharp and extremely current, the song refuses total pessimism. Its energy uplifts rather than merely weighs down, building a balance between gravity and movement, between clarity and the hope that things can also be seen differently.
The song’s ending carries special weight. The choir is made up of the voices of the audience present at the byron “Minunata lume nouă” show at Sala Palatului. For a few moments, the boundary between stage and hall disappeared, and the audience became part of the song, a gesture that speaks about community and the deep bond between the band and the people who have surrounded them for so many years.
Before the official release, the track had its premiere in an intimate listening session with friends, in the best possible audio quality, on Bang & Olufsen equipment.
“De ce să fie simplu dacă poate fi complicat” marks the beginning of an anniversary year for byron. The song will be included on the band’s next album, scheduled for release next year.
