Stray Lights Sessions, a concept launched in November 2025 that shines a spotlight on Romanian alternative music, continues with its fifth event on January 28. Starting at 8:00 PM, the stage at Control (4 Constantin Mille Street) will host Bluebell Creeper and Jahmolxes for another evening of musical exploration.

Tickets are available online.

An eclectic presence in Romanian music, Bluebell Creeper was formed in 2023 and features members from well-known underground bands such as Church of Cthulhu, Tragic, Visions of Madness, and Vandaal. The band blends alternative, grunge, post-punk, and noise rock influences into a unique, high-energy style and has released two records so far, up to 2025.

“Our plan was to explore styles different from the other bands we were involved in, which is where this eclectic mix of alternative, noise rock, and a bit of experimentation here and there comes from. After the album Mind the Gap and the single Villains, the plan is to head in a more experimental direction for the next release,” the band members share.

Jahmolxes is an instrumental progressive / heavy psych / doom band whose concept is built around the historical cultural remnants of the Carpathian-Danubian-Pontic region. Friends for a lifetime and bandmates for nearly a decade, they have brought the legends of Jahmolxes to many stages across Romania, performing at festivals such as Roadkill and SoundArt and sharing the stage with bands like Celelalte Cuvinte, Allochiria, and 1000Mods, as well as many other acts from the Romanian underground. Alongside a classic lineup of two guitars, bass, and drums, they add dense layers of effects and unconventional instruments such as synthesizers, theremin, and bouzouki to create a sonic experience that reveals the mysteries of Jahmolxian initiation.

“We are currently close to finishing our next studio release, Andesite Sun, which follows Jahmolxes on his journey through legendary fortresses of the ancient world, in an attempt to eradicate the negative influence of Oceanus, who drove neighboring peoples to wage war against the Jahmolxian nation. If you want to hear the new legends, at the Control show we will perform the new album in full,” the four members of Jahmolxes share.

Stray Lights functions as a support network among dozens of active alternative bands, including Cardinal, Orkid, D.E.N.I.S, Zammorian, Second Wave, Baby Elvis, PLANT, Valerinne, Methadone Skies, Midpoint, and Air Lines, a form of cultural resistance within a fragile music ecosystem.

“Stray Lights 2.0 is a necessity. A way to bring together, encourage collaboration, and foster mutual support among as many bands as possible that create alternative, relevant, and forward-looking music in Romania. (…) It’s not an agency, it’s not a label — it’s a small group of people trying to help each other and, from time to time, put on a show.” — Vlad Ilicevici, Orkid / Stray Lights initiator
